As part of the \u201cBilkent Eastern Provinces Project\u201d initiated by Bilkent University, a second school is being established in Malatya following the one in Erzurum. The foundation of the school was laid on August 25, 2022, with the participation of Chair of the Bilkent University Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. G\u00fclsev Kale, Rector Prof. Dr. K\u00fcr\u015fat Aydo\u011fan, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Erdal Erel, and Mayor of Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Selahattin G\u00fcrkan.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
The campus will be located on a 350-decare plot in F\u0131r\u0131nc\u0131 Neighborhood of Battalgazi District, near \u0130n\u00f6n\u00fc University. It will include a kindergarten, primary school, middle school, and high school. Once all buildings are completed, the school will accommodate 900 students, and four residential buildings for teachers will also be constructed as part of the project.\n\nAccording to the three-phase construction plan, the first phase, whose foundation has been laid, will include kindergarten and primary school classroom blocks, a sports hall, a multipurpose hall, a cafeteria, a library, and one residential building, totaling 18,000 m\u00b2 of indoor space. The second phase will see the construction of middle school buildings, followed by the high school buildings in the final phase, with the entire campus projected to have approximately 47,000 m\u00b2 of indoor space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rector Prof. Dr. K\u00fcr\u015fat Aydo\u011fan stated:\n\u201cWe are building a campus on a very large area that includes a library, sports hall, and staff residences. The school will implement a unique curriculum beginning from kindergarten and continuing through the final year of high school. We have successfully implemented similar projects in Ankara and Erzurum. In our campuses in the eastern provinces, at least 70% of students receive full scholarships.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The construction will prioritize sustainable energy efficiency, including natural ventilation, high thermal insulation, and building orientation based on sunlight. In addition, PV solar panels will be used to supply electric energy to the campus.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
